To attain the CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education & Care students will need to complete:

18 units of competency:

  • 15 core units
  • 3 elective units and;
  • at least 120 hours of work placement – included in this course!

Core Units

CHCCS400C – Work within a relevant legal and ethical framework

CHCECE001 – Provide care for children

CHCECE002 – Ensure the health and safety of children

CHCECE003 – Provide care for children

CHCECE004 – Promote and provide healthy food and drinks

CHCECE005 – Provide care for babies and toddlers

CHCECE007 – Develop positive and respectful relationships with children

CHCECE009 – Use an approved learning framework to guide practice

CHCECE010 – Support the holistic development of children in early childhood

CHCECE011 – Provide experiences to support children’s play and learning

CHCECE013 – Use information about children to inform practice

CHCPRT001 – Identify and respond to children and young people at risk

HLTAID004 – Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting

HLTWHS001 – Participate in work health and safety

HLTHIR404D – Work effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people

Elective Units

CHCECE006 – Support behaviour of children and young people

CHCECE012 – Support children to connect with their world

HLTHIR403C – Work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers

Work placement 

This Certificate III in Early Childhood Education & Care (CHC30113) course includes a compulsory number of 120 hours of practical placement.

Duration: Approximately 12 months duration which includes class time plus 120 hours of placement.

Individuals would need to fulfil the following requirements:

  • *Aged 18 years or above,
  • Pre – Training Review
  • Successfully pass of a  Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment
  • Ability to obtain a Police Check

*if you are aged 18 years and below, further approvals may be required from the training provider.

Additional Requirements

Students not working in the Children Services industry must complete and be assessed as competent in the following units before commencing placement:

CHCCS400C – Work within a relevant Legal and Ethical framework

CHCPRT001 – Identify and respond to children and young people at risk

HLTWHS001 – Participate in work health and safety

CHCECE002 – Ensure the health and safety of children

CHCECE003 – Provide care for children

CHCECE005 – Provide care for babies and toddlers

CHCECE007 – Develop positive and respectful relationships with children

HLTAID004 – Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting

Students must also have the following before they can apply for work placement, if they are not already working in the industry:

  • A current Police Check
  • A current Work with Children Check
  • An Asthma Management Certificate An Anaphylaxis Certificate
