Pathology collectors work extensively in private and public pathology collection centres.

  • This course is the entry requirement for anyone who wants to work as a pathology collector in pathology clinics, hospitals, community specimen collection and laboratories and for those who wish to work in the health and medical industry.
  • This program has been specifically designed in consultation with the industry to develop the skills required for the collection of a variety of pathology specimens and data, e.g. blood collection, non-blood specimens and electrocardiograph recordings (ECG).
  • You will also learn about infection control, Level 2 First Aid, medical terminology and other important workplace skills.
  • In addition to these skills students will learn how to work within the health care industry and apply communication and customer service skills to a diverse customer base.
  • This certificate is also suitable for those who are currently employed in the health industry and would like to gain additional skills or certified qualification.
  • Units within this course can be credited to divisional 1 or 2 Nursing.

To achieve this qualification, you must successfully complete the total number of units required and at least 35 hours of work placement.

A Literature, Language and Numeracy Test needs to be passed before admission to the course is given.

Students must be over the age of 18.
