Certificate IV in Building & Construction – Building (CPC40110): Participants need to complete 16 units of competency to be awarded the qualification

  • Apply building codes and standards to the construction process for low rising building projects (CPCCBC4001A)
  • Manage occupational health and safety in the building and construction workplace (CPCCBC4002A)
  • Select and prepare a construction contract (CPCCBC4003A)
  • Identify and produce estimated costs for building and construction projects (CPCCBC4004A)
  • Produce labour and material schedules for ordering (CPCCBC4005A)
  • Select, procure and store construction materials for low rise projects (CPCCBC4006B)
  • Plan building or construction work (CPCCBC4007A)
  • Conduct on-site supervision of building and construction (CPCCBC4008B)
  • Apply legal requirements to building and construction projects (CPCCBC4009B)
  • Apply structural principles to residential low rise constructions (CPCCBC4010B)
  • Apply structural principles to commercial low rise constructions (CPCCBC4011B)
  • Read and interpret plans and specifications (CPCCBC4012B)
  • Manage small business finances (BSBSMB406A)
  • Implement continuous improvement (BSBMGT403A)
  • Resolve business disputes (CPCCBC4024A)

Units for CPC50210 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building): If you have completed CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building and Construction then there may be a few units that you don’t have to complete – as they could be Credit Transferred.

Certificate IV in Building and Construction:

  •  Industry accredited qualification to advance your career
  • Offers flexible study options within a 6 or 12-month period with classes 1-2 nights per week (VICTORIA ONLY) 
  • Designed exclusively for people with industry experience; led by building industry professionals with training credentials
  • 3+ years experience in building trades and/or with Cert III Apprenticeship in a building trade is the entry requirement for this course

Diploma in Building and Construction:

  • Eligible students must have a completed Certificate IV in Building & Construction and/or prove 5+ years working in the building sector.
  • This course contributes to the requirements for a range of builders licenses in most Australian states.
  • This course may be offered in conjunction with the Diploma of Building and Construction (Management) – CPC50308
  • Class-based and typically run 2 nights per week, over 9-11 months.
  • Students have a maximum of 12 months to complete the progrAM
  • Other entry requirements around Age, Industry experience and Language, Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Note: Students MUST produce a copy of either their Certificate IV in Building and Construction, or any other Certificate IV at the Enrolment Session.

Dual qualifications in Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) – CPC40110 AND Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety – BSB41212 is available.

Course features

  • Provides an industry accredited qualification to advance your career to more senior roles and higher income opportunities.
  • Combination of classroom and practical onsite training.
  • Two evenings per week & occasional Saturdays over 6 months for the Certificate IV  and for the Diploma the class-based course typically runs 1 evening per week plus 14 Saturdays over 9 months.

Entry Requirements

  • No course pre-requisites.
  • Industry experience combined with basic math and computer skills an advantage.
  • Applicant’s will be required to complete TIV’s Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment and  pass all components.
  • Applicants who have already completed Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) may be eligible for credit transfers.
