The HLT51612Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled / Division 2 Nursing)  is for students who are pursuing a career in the Healthcare industry, including the following sectors:

  • Acute Medication
  • Community Health
  • Mental Health and;
  • Aged Care

Upon successful course completion students will be awarded The Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled / Division 2 Nursing) HLT51612, which will enable them to seek registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and practise as an Enrolled Nurse in the Healthcare sector across Australia.

 

To achieve the HLT51612 Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled / Division 2 Nursing), you must successfully complete:

Total number of units = 26

  • 21 core units
  • 5 elective units and;
  • at least 400 hours of industry work placement

  • Confirm physical health status
  • Analyse health information
  • Work in the nursing profession
  • Apply effective communication skills in nursing practice
  • Contribute to client assessment and developing nursing care plans
  • Implement and evaluate a plan of nursing care
  • Apply principles of wound management in the clinical environment
  • Administer and monitor medications
  • Apply reflective practice, critical thinking and analysis in health
  • Apply legal and ethical parameters to nursing practices
  • Implement and monitor nursing care for consumers with mental health conditions, acute or chronic health problems
  • Implement and monitor nursing care for older clients
  • Apply understanding of the Australian healthcare system
  • Apply first aid
  • Work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders
  • Comply with infection control policies and procedures
  • Work Health and Safety processes
  • Provide nursing care for clients requiring palliative care
  • Apply research skills within a contemporary health environment
  • Administer and monitor intravenous medication in the nursing environment
  • Contribute to the care of mothers and babies
  • Practise in the domiciliary health care environment

 

Delivery:

  • This time frame includes class time and 400 hours of clinical placement
  • Nationally recognised qualification
  • Well-equipped modern clinical skills labs – a simulated hospital environment
  • Gain credit towards a Bachelor Course for Registered Nurse qualification
  • Books, materials and equipment fees apply
  • Victorian Skills First subsidies may be available for eligible applicants

Work Placement:

Work placement is not optional; this course includes a compulsory number of hours of practical placement.

To attain your Diploma of Nursing you must complete both theory assessments and Clinical Placement. There are certain requirements before attending work placement; you will be advised of these by your trainer.

Entry Requirements:

For this qualification, applicants are required to have completed:

  • Certificate III or IV in a health based industry or,
  • Secondary schooling (year 12) or,
  • Have at least two years experience in a closely related field or,
  • Be of mature age entry

All applicants must:

  • Attend a Pre-Training Interview and;
  • Successfully pass the Literacy and Numeracy Assessment / VETASSESS Test

Applicants must have:

  • A current National Police Clearance for the Clinical Placement
  • Depending on the chosen elective units, a Working with Children Permit will be required.

Successful applicants:

  • Must have up to date Immunisations as per the Departments of Health requirements, prior to commencing the clinical placement.
